Our lovely little village (pronounced Br-eye-set, incidentally), nestled in the heart of rural Suffolk, is complex with a long and varied history.

The Parish Church, Nunnery Mount, and a number of beamed houses can be traced back to medieval times, and the heart of the village remains centered around the tiny village green; the adjacent Victorian school now serves admirably as our Village Hall.

On the other hand, part of a front line military airfield with its own fascinating history has operated within the Parish boundary for over 60 years and has been home to the Royal Air Force, United States Air Force, and, more recently, the Army Air Corps. However, the Parish also extends well beyond the bounds of the original village and now encompasses farms and other outlying properties.

A new book by local historian Edward Martin detailing the history of Great Bricett Manor and Priory is now available; please click on "Our Village" for more details.
